Wiring Method between Main Line and Distribution Box

The main line is connected to the distribution box through a sequence of isolators, breakers, and protective devices, ensuring proper phase, neutral, and earth connections for safe power distribution.

Step-by-

Step Wiring Process1. Incoming Power Connection: The three-phase lines (A, B, C) from the main distribution line are drawn into the distribution box. The neutral line (N) and protective earth (PE) are also brought in.

The main distribution box door and body should be connected with a braided soft copper wire to ensure a reliable protective earth connection. 2. Main Isolator or Breaker: Connect the three-phase lines to the main isolating switch of the distribution box.

The neutral line is connected to the N terminal of the leakage protector (RCCB or RCD), which protects against current leakage and electric shock.

The P

E line is connected to the protective earth bus (PE bar) and should not pass through the leakage protector to avoid tripping upstream devices. 3. Connection to Protective Devices: From the main isolator, the phase lines are led to the RCCB or leakage protector.

The neutral line from the isolator passes through the RCCB and then connects to the neutral bus bar.

The P

E line remains directly connected to the PE bus. 4. Branch Circuit Connections: Phase lines from the RCCB are distributed to individual branch isolating switches or MCBs.

Neutral lines from the neutral bus bar and PE lines from the PE bus are connected to each branch circuit as required. Ensure proper labeling of AC, DC, or different voltage levels for clarity. 5.

Wiring Organization: Wires should be routed neatly, typically with incoming wiring on the left and outgoing wiring on the right. Use plastic ties to bind wires uniformly, maintaining straight runs without kinks or ribs. Phase load balancing should be considered in three-phase systems to prevent overheating and voltage imbalance.

6. Safety Checks: After wiring, perform a thorough inspection to ensure there are no short circuits, overloads, or loose connections. Verify that all protective devices function correctly and that the PE connection is continuous and reliable.

Key Considerations

Line vs Load Identification: Supply conductors must connect to LINE terminals; outgoing circuits connect to LOAD terminals.

Neutral and P

E Separation: Neutral and protective earth bars must remain separate to prevent fault currents from bypassing protective devices. Protective Earth: Always maintain a continuous PE connection from the main box to the distribution box and all metallic enclosures. Compliance: Follow local electrical codes and standards for breaker sizing, wire gauge, and safety distances.

This method ensures safe, organized, and code-compliant wiring between the main line and the distribution box, facilitating maintenance, future expansion, and reliable operation.
