Loose Tube Type Optical Cable Fixing Joint Box

A Loose Tube Type Optical Cable Fixing Joint Box is an environmentally sealed enclosure designed to securely house and manage optical fiber splices, compatible with various loose tube cable types and installation environments.

Key Features

Cable Compatibility: These joint boxes are compatible with a wide range of optical cables, including loose tube, central core, slotted core, and ribbon fiber cables. They can accommodate cables with plastic sheaths, OPGW with aluminum or stainless steel tubes, and multi-loose tube constructions, supporting diameters up to 25mm. Splice Capacity: Most joint boxes feature multiple splice trays, each capable of holding 24 splices, with total capacities reaching up to 192 fiber splices.

Self-locking hinged trays allow easy access without disturbing other fibers. Sealing and Environmental Protection: The enclosures use O-ring seals, pre-molded neoprene gaskets, or heavy-walled heat shrinkable tubes to provide dust- and water-resistant sealing. They are suitable for aerial, pedestal, underground, and direct-burial installations, with some rated for depths up to 3 meters.

Cable Entry and Fixing: Joint boxes offer multiple entry ports (round and oval) and flexible multi-port cable seals to accommodate varying cable diameters. Cable glands and anchoring clamps or stainless steel tapes secure the cables and prevent stress on fibers. Loose Tube Management: Uncut loose tubes can be stored in dedicated baskets within the box, maintaining organized fiber management and preventing damage during installation or maintenance.

Versatility: These enclosures are designed for diverse applications, including tap-offs, splicing, and network branching. They can be installed in aerial towers, handholes, manholes, or buried directly, providing flexibility for different network layouts.

Installation Considerations

Cable Preparation: Before termination, remove approximately 3 meters of cable to eliminate stress from pulling grips or tapes, ensuring fibers are not damaged. Pulling and Fixing: Use specially designed pulling grips to distribute tension evenly across the cable's strength members, preventing elongation or fiber damage. Splice Tray Handling: Organize fibers carefully in splice trays, ensuring that bending radii are maintained to avoid signal loss.

Sealing: Ensure all cable entries are properly sealed with glands or heat-shrink tubes to maintain environmental protection.

Applications

Loose tube joint boxes are widely used in outside plant networks, including urban and rural deployments, high-fiber-count networks, and OPGW systems. They are suitable for telecom, data, and utility networks, providing secure, organized, and durable fiber management. By selecting a joint box with appropriate capacity, sealing, and cable compatibility, network installers can ensure long-term reliability and ease of maintenance for loose tube optical fiber networks.
