Key CapabilitiesCALYPSO provides Maltese startups, SMEs, researchers, and public bodies with: Direct Supercomputing Access: Remote access to EuroHPC's AI-optimised supercomputers, essential for training and testing complex AI models. Algorithmic Support & Training: Structured programs and technical expertise to help local teams leverage AI hardware effectively.

Datasets and Tools: Access to curated datasets and AI development toolkits for sectors such as finance, transport, and health. Collaboration and Compliance: Support for AI development while ensuring adherence to European AI regulations and ethical standards.

Strategic Impact

The establishment of CALYPSO positions Malta as a hub for digital innovation and AI excellence. It accelerates AI adoption, fosters innovation, and strengthens the national ecosystem by: Enabling rapid AI model development and deployment. Creating demand for AI upskilling and expert services in data science and AI integration.

Funding and Collaboration

I Factory Antennas, including CALYPSO, are funded by the European Union (€55 million), with matched contributions from participating countries. Each Antenna works closely with its linked AI Factory to provide national ecosystems with access to high-performance computing for research, innovation, and industrial applications.
