How to mark Revit cable trays

Tagging Cable Trays on PlacementGo to the Systems tab and select Cable Tray from the Electrical panel. In the Type Selector, choose the desired cable tray type, with or without fittings.

On the Options Bar, specify parameters such as width, height, offset, or bend radius. Ensure Tag on Placement is selected on the ribbon to automatically apply a tag when placing the cable tray.

Applying Tags to Existing Cable Trays

Click the Annotate tab and open the Tag panel. Select Loaded Tags to view available tag families for cable trays. If necessary, click Load to import additional tag families from your project files.

Select the cable tray elements you want to mark and apply the tag from the loaded options.

Customizing Cable Tray Appearance

To enhance visibility, you can change the color of cable trays via the Object Styles in the Manage tab.

Open Visibility/

Graphics (VG), ensure the Cable Tray category is checked, and adjust the color settings under Model Objects.

Best Practices

Use tags consistently to indicate tray type, size, or routing information for coordination. Place tags in views where they are clearly visible, such as plan or 3D views. Coordinate with other MEP systems to avoid overlapping or conflicting annotations.

By following these steps, you can effectively mark and annotate cable trays in Revit, ensuring clear documentation and easier coordination across your MEP project.
